Simbabes: Gone but not forgotten.

Gabrielle: 'I had my hair styled at Simbabes last year. It's a unique style that took ages to make. I'd really like a new look, without changing the style. Any ideas?'

Velaria: Have you thought about re-colouring?

You can keep the exact same style, but you get a whole new look!

Take a look at these:

Same hair. Different face.
Kim is using 'Camomile' from the Garnier Natea range. A hair colour masque that nourishes as it colours, it won't change your style.
Same hair. Same nose.
From the same versatile range, Terra has been re-coloured to 'Golden Barley', but she still keeps that old Simbabes style down to the last hair.
Goodness! Same hair and nose again!
For a radical change, consider 'L'Oreal Casting ColourSpa in 'Chesnut', modelled here by Janelle. Remember, this range is ammonia-free, so you simply must watch out for the watermark.

Velaria's Fashion Tips:

'Remember - with a simple re-colour, you don't have to go to the trouble of creating a whole new hairstyle'

More hair tips next week!

Poll results: People who love voting in polls in favour of having a poll

The first poll of the new millennium has resulted in a decisive victory for people who love voting in polls.

With a massive 65% of the votes, poll-lovers easily outpaced those people who never vote in polls, guaranteeing a new poll in The Sim this week. And the week after that.

"This is a dramatic climax to a hard-won race" said one SCN commentator "Despite an unexpectedly high turnout of people who never vote in polls, the vote was always going to go the way of the poll-lovers. I only hope that we can now heal the divisions between the two factions and polling can continue in earnest"

Several comments made by voters were invaluable in deciphering voter intentions. Voter number 12 perceptively commented "Not only don't I vote in polls, I never submit comments either", while voter number 183 added "Do it, man", a sentiment shared by many.

Perhaps the most penetrating insight was afforded by the words of voter number 170, here reproduced in full:

"My name is Ben"

The Sim says: Be sure to vote in this week's poll. It sure beats having to make the result up.

Hair-raising: Raid at SimFreaks

Popular Simsite SimFreaks today released CCTV images of the three men videotaped during a daring raid on Fionn's hair salon over the New Year holiday. The three suspects, pictured below, mounted the raid unnoticed while the SimFreaks staff struggled with an overloaded server.

Known to police as the 'Hair-Bare Bunch", the gang is still at large, despite the distinctive 'no-shirt' look adopted for the operation. They are thought to have escaped with several exclusive designs by hair-guru, Fionn.

"As far as I can tell, they got away with pretty much everything" said Fionn "I'm devastated"

Leading the investigation is officer Chelsea Bunn of SimVille PD "I'm pretty sure we'll track down these guys real soon" she said today.

"After all, they're all heavily-muscled, naked from the waist up, and have hair to die for. How hard can that be?"

WeatherWatch Update
Hurricane Velaria rages on

Satellite tracking courtesy of NIC

Despite confident predictions that the whole thing would blow over really soon, Hurricane Velaria continued to rage on this week, directing huge blasts of hot air through Sims websites over a large area. Now officially the world's largest 'storm in a teacup', the pink whirlwind has shown no sign of abating over the last ten days. Sudden course changes have left many confused, and several times the storm seemed to blow itself out before starting up again unexpectedly.

The National Institute of Climatology (NIC) has tracked the phenomenon by weather satellite since the very beginning, providing invaluable updates and statistical data.

"Basically, this one's totally out of control" said a spokesman "We advise anyone exposed to it to run like hell. And keep on running"

Floods in Neighbourhood Three:
Global warming blamed

The spectre of global warming was today made flesh as the River Sim burst its banks in secluded Neighbourhood Three. With the road flooded and the bridge down, emergency services were hard pressed to tend to the stricken residents, many of whom had to teleport to safety.

"We've never seen anything like this" confirmed rescue co-ordinator Victoria Sponge "I can only imagine that decades of careless consumption of fossil fuels is to blame"

"Although that big pink storm probably didn't help much either" she added.

Climatologist Windy Miller said today: "I believe that the flooding is the result of several factors which combined in catastrophic fashion"

"When Maxis built Neighbourhoods Two through Five they cleared thousands of acres of forest, dramatically increasing CO2 levels"

"As temperatures rose, several thousand snow-based displays, assembled for the Winter Wonderland competition, melted. The result? See for yourself."

But what can the average Sim do to reduce CO2 emissions?

Windy Miller suggests the following:

  • regular visits to The Sims Florist
  • walk to work if possible
  • only use CFC-free roach spray
  • try to not catch fire
  • exhale less
